How To Be More Positive

How To Be More Positive and Happy
Are you happy? Do you consider yourself a positive person?
Ever think your life could use a heavy dose of positivity?
My answers would be yes, mostly and yes.
One more question? Would others describe you as positive?
My answer. I really don’t know.
How to be more positive is an important thing to think about.
Everyone gets the negative Nancy bug from time to time. But you have to shake it off.
Sounds so simple, right?. Just shake it off.
How amazing would it be if that worked for every difficult part of life? Give a little shake and all is well.
Reality is quite a bit messier.
But who doesn’t want to have an optimistic outlook on life?
Being positive is not shutting out everything negative. That is not how it works. And definitely not realistic.
It is easy to be positive when things are going great. But what about when things are the exact opposite of great?
We are so hard on ourselves. We tend to not cut ourselves even the tiniest amount of slack.
Now, I am all for pushing yourself. But not in a way that is causing more sadness than joy.
We are in charge of our lives. Who we let in it. The choices we make.
Happiness is a choice. Positivity is a choice. It is all in the way you look at things.
Do you know anyone who just radiates positivity? Positive vibes are all around them. And maybe you think it must be so nice to be like that. To have such a positive outlook. But you know what. They choose to be that way.
And so can you.

So, Here Are Some Killer Tips All About How To Be More Positive
1) Music
OK. This might seem silly as number one on a list of how to be more positive but stick with me.
A three-minute song has snapped me out of a downward spiral more times than I can count.
You know what I’m talking about? Those songs that get you up and dancing like no one is watching.
No sad songs here! This is all about feel-good music.
2) Write Down What Brings You Joy
Now do more of those things.
Life can become a constant parade of going through the motions.
I love to read. Listen to music. Have some girl talk with my best friend. Eat nachos. Go for walks. Those things bring me joy. Especially the nachos!
What brings you joy?
3) Start(or end) Your Day With Gratitude
Through everything, there are always things to be grateful for. And most of these things go unnoticed.
Add a little gratitude to each and every day.
Write down a few things you are grateful for. Big, small, and everything in between.
Heck, even just say these things out loud. Put gratitude out into the world.

4) Complain…Less
Yikes. This is a hard one.
Notice it does not say to stop complaining. A good vent session is necessary for everyone.
But try to keep the complaining to a minimum. We do not have to go on and on about every little thing that caused us even the tiniest bit of annoyance.
5) Personal Mantra
Does this sound silly to you? It did to me.
But in the same way that negative talk can become the only thing you hear after so long, the same is true for positive talk.
If you can’t think of your own then look some up. Pick one that really speaks to you and makes you feel good!
Got one you love? Repeat it. Repeat it. Over and over. Write it on a post-it and put it somewhere you will see it every single day.
Get it, girl! This is my favorite thing to say. It may not sound like the most amazing mantra. But it gives me a little pep in my step.
I may or may not have a little dance that goes along with it!
I am doing enough. That’s another one of my favorites.
6) Journal
Do you know what will always help you feel better? Getting your feelings out!
Holding things inside is like holding in a sickness. It will eat you up.
Little things. Big things. Anything. Spill it all out onto some pages.
This unique journal is a step above the rest. It has drawings, quotes, and prompt questions. Along with space to write your thoughts of course!

7) Watch Out For Negative Self-Talk
What does your inner dialogue sound like? Really take the time to think about and listen to the way you talk to yourself.
Do not let your inner voice be a Debbie Downer!
A Positive Polly sounds like a much better choice.
This will not happen overnight. Change takes time. I know this. You know this. But dang being patient is hard.
Work on being aware of negative thoughts and catching them before they come out of your mouth.
8) Check Your Social Circle
Who are you spending time with?
Being around negativity will without a doubt rub off on you.
Your time is valuable. Spend it with those who make you feel good inside!
9) Read
Books can be magical.
My absolute favorite kind of books are self-help books. They have the power to put things in an entirely new perspective. And inspire the heck out of you.
I love that feeling of inspiration. When a book has me smiling and nodding my head all the way through.
I just finished this book and I honestly can not say enough good things about it! You will not regret getting your hands on it!

10) Choose Kindness
Choose kindness with others. And choose kindness with yourself.
It costs nothing to be kind and it will make you feel good.
11) Talk It Out
Journaling is like talking with yourself. This one involves other people.
A nice, deep conversation is good for the soul.
Talk to friends, family, or your partner. A therapist.
Just talk.
12) Put Your Phone Away
Does this sound impossible?
I get it. It can be painfully difficult.
We all know what I am getting at here. SOCIAL MEDIA!
It is an amazing space while at the same time being a space that can cause a boatload of negative feelings.
Some days, you may need to take a little breather. Step away.
It can be great to unplug every once in a while.
(Especially on those days when something on your phone is not helping you in any way! And you can feel yourself being sucked deeper and deeper into that black hole of negativity.)
