Be The Best Version of Yourself Today

We are going to talk about how to be the best version of yourself.

But before we start, let’s get comfortable.

Sit down. Relax. Put your shoulders down. Take a few deep breaths.

OK, now we can get going.

I want you to have some fun reading this. I want you to get some good ideas and apply them to your life in whatever way you see fit.

This is not at all about aiming to create this flawless version of yourself. That will never happen.

But we can (and should) aim to create versions of ourselves that we like and are proud of.

The good news is that I think everyone out there will always be a work in progress. We are all constantly growing and changing and evolving.

So no need to set strict deadlines or put pressure on yourself to get it all together by next month.

Here Are 7 Tips To Discover How To Be The Best Version of Yourself

1) Back To Basics

A good foundation is everything. And as human beings, our foundation is all about the basics.

Are you drinking enough water? Check out this motivational water bottle that will help you hold yourself accountable!

Feeding your body things that make you feel ready to take on the day?

Are you trying your best to get quality sleep?

Moving your body in whatever way feels good for you.

These things matter. And often we don’t pay enough attention to them.

I am not saying that getting the right amount of sleep or staying hydrated will make your life a breeze. But a well-rested you and a hydrated you will most definitely be better equipped to navigate through life.

2) Be So Much Kinder To Yourself

We see a lot about being kind to others. And I am all for practicing kindness with those around us but so often we seem to forget that we deserve kindness too.

How we treat ourselves matters. Not that you need the reminder but being unkind to yourself on a consistent basis can inflict lasting damage.

We are important. We are valuable. And we should treat ourselves as such.

Now, the hard part about this is that it’s not a one-and-done choice we make. It takes practice to be nice to ourselves.

One thing can be off or not go according to plan and we start instantly bullying ourselves. It’s so easy to do. I know I fall victim to my inner bully quite often. (work in progress, remember)

But if we stop and think about it, does this method help us? Not really.

You deserve kindness. From others and especially from yourself.

If you struggle with this, try writing out your thoughts in a journal. Words on paper are so powerful. Write down how you treat yourself and see where that takes you.

3) Put Your Phone Away

And your laptop. And any other device you have.

Technology is great. Phones are amazing. They are how so many of us stay connected to the world. But let’s not forget that there is an entire world that is happening outside of that phone.

Technology breaks or social media breaks are necessary.

Social media, especially, sort of bombards us with a motherload of videos and images that do not usually give an accurate depiction of real life. And seeing these curated lives can most definitely impact us in some not-so-great ways.

We can slowly start to only see the ways our lives don’t stack up. Let me tell you that you and your life deserve much better than that!

The internet is not real life. However, since so many of us will partake in social media, I highly suggest you curate the heck out of yours. There are quality accounts out there spreading positive and helpful information.

Be very mindful about what you consume or allow to take up space and time in your life.

4) Prioritize

Learning to prioritize will be a lifesaver.

No one can do it all. At least not well.

Prioritizing makes it so that we don’t have to be “on” all the dang time. Yes, will always be things that need to get done.

But everything can not be placed on the same importance.

A lack of prioritizing can really set us up for failure. It can set us up to feel like we are constantly falling short or missing the mark.

But the truth is we aren’t missing the mark at all. We are simply placing that mark outside the realm of possibility.

Prioritize til the cows come home.

5) Set Boundaries

Boundaries. How are you with boundaries?

Me? This is another one of those areas where I am a massive work in progress.

If you want to get a better understanding of boundaries and how to insert them into your life, then this book is a must-read. It’s basically the holy grail of boundaries.

Boundaries are a straight-up necessity. And our lives will be so much better when we learn how to truly use them.

6) Learn

Learning is cool. I like to view learning as a privilege we have.

My favorite learning tool is books. I am currently re-reading this one. I am also slightly obsessed with this one and this one and definitely this one

There are also endless podcasts or TED Talks. And we all know you can type basically anything into Google.

Make it a mission to first and foremost learn about yourself. But don’t stop there. Learn about anything in any capacity you choose.

**If you want to take it a step further in the learning department, you should check out Coursera. It’s an online learning platform that offers thousands of different courses on basically anything. You can even earn certificates and degrees.

7) Don’t Wait To Celebrate Your Life

Do you ever find yourself waiting for a date on the calendar to celebrate? I’m sure you do. We all do. And for good reason.

There are certain dates on the calendar that hold a significance or they are a holiday.

But I found myself only looking forward to certain dates. And the rest of the time I was just chugging along. Doing my thing.

This is not to say that every single you need to throw a mini party for yourself or your life. I do, however, strongly urge you to celebrate and appreciate your life on a more consistent basis.

Ready for a little bit of cheesiness?

You only get one life. How does that phrase rank on your cheesiness level?

Whether you think it is super cheesy or cliche, it is in fact true.

And you and your life are worthy of more than a handful of days of celebration.

The best version of yourself is not a simple hop, jump and skip away. While the ideas of working on ourselves are simple to take in and understand, they are much tougher to actually implement into our daily lives.

It’s not so easy to be consistent.

And we all know that everything will not always go according to plan.

But here’s the good news. That’s totally ok. That’s life.

Remember earlier we talked about taking anything resembling perfection off the table? Well, make sure you keep it off the table.

Be kind to yourself. Give yourself loads of grace. And be slow and steady like the turtle in that story we all know. I’m pretty sure he came out on top.
