How To Organize Yourself

Busy. How often is this word used to describe life?

Life can easily become a jumbled mess. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can have a lot on your plate and still be living a full and happy life.

You just have to learn how to organize your life! Basically a deep cleaning of everything.

Let me get one thing out of the way. I think there will always be a messy aspect when it comes to life. This is life, people!

But you can make things a lot easier for yourself if you focus on getting things in order.

It may sound too good to be true but I assure you it is possible.

You just have to start. Super simple, right? Actually, it is. I think many times we think about an idea for too long and it starts to get a little scary or overwhelming. And then we do a great job of talking ourselves out of it.

Or we feel stuck because we just do not know how to start or where to start. Get ready to change all that.

Being organized needs to become a way of life. Just like developing a healthy lifestyle. You have to develop an organized lifestyle.

Once you find things that work for you, it will be (mostly) smooth sailing.

I really hope these tips help you to condense everything in your life and make you feel refreshed and renewed.

Here Are 9 Tips on How to Organize Your Life

1) Make Lists

This is a great way to learn how to organize your life with a notebook. Memorizing everything is impossible. But having something that you can hold in your hands and look at can make all the difference.

You can make a list for every area of your life. Here are 17 lists I love to make! But feel free to go wild and see what works for you.

Having something physical in front of you is a really nice way to calm the chaos.

2) Take a look around!

Of course, we had to talk about your surroundings. If your home is the complete opposite of organized then it is time to change that today.

Now, this one takes some time. This is a big one. Here is a simple guide to help you organize your home. You can apply the concepts here to any and every place in your home that could you a little spruce up.

A clean slate for the win.

3) Email

Do you keep up with your emails? Or is your inbox so full it feels overwhelming? And most of them are most likely junk mail. But if I open my email and see any number over 20 it makes me want to run for the hills.

Set aside a few minutes every day to clean out your inbox. This is also a great way to not lose an important email in the world of spam emails.

4) Clean out your closet

OK, I know we already talked about cleaning out your home. But I wanted to specifically point out closets. And more specifically I am referring to clothes.

This is all about only keep things you actually wear. Do not save a sweater because you might wear it “someday.” That day may never come. And you probably said the same thing last year and look how that worked out.

Also, start being very picky about what you add to your closet. If something does not make you feel like a rock star then pass on it.

5) Organize your car

Cars can be a hot mess.

Many of us spend a decent amount of time driving. And maybe eating in our cars. Whatever the reason, cars get dirty!

Got kids? Kids can add an entirely new level of messy. This car organizer may be just what you need!

But even if you don’t have kids. Your car may be well overdue for some TLC!

Keep a couple of plastic bags in your car for trash. I save the bags I get from the grocery store. This way you are not shoving garbage in the door panels or on the floor. This is a super-easy way to keep things a little cleaner.

This might be a big job the first time you do it. But after that, it is just about keeping up with it.

6) Garage

Is there so much stuff in your garage that it is actually taking up space where a car should be able to park? Yeah, I have been there.

Not everyone has a garage. But this really applies to any outside area. A shed? A patio area?

Those places can easily become eyesores. I guarantee getting them organized will make you feel accomplished as heck!

7) Schedule

Take a long look at your schedule. Is it giving you a headache just looking at it?

Being a busy person is OK. Being so overwhelmed that you want to cry is another. Is there anything you could get rid of? Anything you could say no to?

Create a schedule that works for you. One that allows you to live and enjoy your life while still being productive. Speaking of productivity, check out what I did to become much more productive!

8) Clean out your purse

I don’t know about you, but my purse is a bottomless pit of random things. This may seem like something little but I do it every single night. It takes less than 2 minutes.

9) Routines

Do you have routines put in place? They can be great for keeping a busy life in check.

And I like to have routines in place to hold myself accountable.

Create a morning routine that sets you up for success. Plan out a routine for exercising and cleaning that fits into your life. Good routines can have a huge impact on stress levels and mental health.

Here is the best piece of advice I can give you.

Just start. Start small. Start wherever you want to. But please start. An organized life has a direct connection to an organized mind.

Just go from one thing to the next. Can’t argue with slow and steady!

Being organized does not mean a state of perfection. All the work you have done will not be wasted if you do not clean out your purse one night. This is a lifestyle change. It takes time.

Do not underestimate the power of organization!
