Creative Ways To Romanticize Your Life

This is all about ways to romanticize your life. And maybe you are thinking…

What the heck does that mean?

It’s a long and pretty word but how the heck do I actually do that?

Well, that’s what we are going to look at, of course.

Real ways you can start doing this romanticizing thing in your day-to-day life.

It’s about looking at your life in a slightly different way. Viewing the seemingly simple things with a new lens.

Life can sometimes feel like a revolving door of responsibilities. Issues. Challenges.

That’s just a part of living. But it’s not the only part. Not by a long shot.

In whatever stage of life we are in, there is always stuff. And this stuff can definitely cast a shadow on the beautiful parts of life that each season offers.

Let me ask you a question.

Are you more prone to remembering the awkward conversations you’ve had or the amazing ones? Can you off the top of your head recall some pretty rough times you have gone through but it takes a little more time to remember some of the best times you’ve had?

My answer to both of those questions is a big resounding YES!

I would bet that this is the way it goes for many of us.

BTW: This is in no way implying that we should just ignore anything rough or difficult in our lives. That’s not the case at all.

We should, however, make a deliberate effort to acknowledge and appreciate even the tiniest moments of joy.

Here Are 10 Fantastic & Simple Ways To Romanticize Your Life

1) Slow Down

We’re going to start with a big one. An idea that encompasses the main purpose of the rest of the ideas on this list.

Do you ever feel like everything and everyone is always in such a rush?

Honestly, I was probably one of those people. Someone who was so annoyed when I got stuck behind a slow driver or what felt like every red light.

Someone who let out a small huff when a checkout line was long. Moving through life at warp speed.

And sometimes I still find myself rushing when it comes to my kids. We know kids work on their own timelines. And I am not saying I just let them do everything at their own pace. If that were the case, my 9-year-old would be late to school most days.

But I make a conscious effort most days to slow the heck down. Life and time go by fast enough. No need for me to try to speed it up anymore.

And if we really think about it, we often aren’t even rushing for a specific reason. It just becomes the default pace of life.

Slowness is so underrated. There’s no better time than now to start seeing the value in it.

2) Celebrate

No need to wait for a day on the calendar.

Think of this in terms of marriage anniversaries. Do you think the happiest marriages celebrate each other only on their anniversary? I don’t think so.

Take time to celebrate your life. Make time to celebrate your life.

Celebrate for no reason at all.

3) Dance Party for One

I mean, you can invite others to your dance party if you want to. But I am usually hit with a surprising amount of joy when I blast music I love and dance my heart out.

In my head, I make up choreographed dances and convince myself I could possibly be a contender on a dancing show.

I do not judge myself or worry that I look silly. The only goal is to enjoy myself. (and I do)

4) Sip Your Favorite Drink

Savor the flavor.

Also, I have no scientific proof that a drink tastes better when it comes from your favorite cup but I can say with absolute certainty that it adds joy to my day and puts a smile on my face.

5) Sink into a Spot on the Couch

Sit back and relax. Unclench any part of your body that needs it. Take some breaths and just be.

Stretch your arms above your head. Point your toes. Flex your ankles. Grab a head-scratcher and give your scalp a nice mini massage.

Relish in coziness and warmth.

You don’t need to earn these times of stillness.

6) Wear The Shoes

Or the dress or the purse or the lipstick. Or anything in your closet that you designated as being for a special occasion.

If something makes you feel good, then wear it. No need to wait for a specific date on a calendar.

7) Admire Nature

My 2-year-old is so mesmerized every single time she sees a bird flying in the sky or a plane. She gets such a kick out of it.

And birds and planes are pretty cool when you think about it.

Make it a point to really look around. Notice and find joy in your surroundings.

8) Get Lost in a Good Book

Allow yourself to get transported to a different world.

I just finished this book and it’s really spectacular. It was one of those books you stay up way too late reading because you just can’t put it down.

I am also a sucker for personal growth books!

9) Journal

Writing is such a powerful tool. It can, of course, help us clear the clutter from our minds.

But it can also be great for putting things into perspective.

And the best part is you can look back on things you wrote.

Look back with a smile on your face when you read about the time you caught lightning bugs with your kids. The time you stayed up late laughing with your best friend.

Grab a simple notebook and just write.

10) Learn

I am always fascinated by the fact that we will never run out of things to learn. Never. No one person will ever know it all.

Isn’t that so cool?

And many of us have access to so much information. My 9-year-old daughter and I love to go to the library armed with a list of random topics that sound interesting.

Then we find books on these things and learn.

Growth in any way can spark a sense of wonder and excitement.

Welcoming learning and growth in your life in any capacity is always a good choice.

There is so much joy and beauty in the world. And yes, there are many things that are not joyful or beautiful. This is not about pretending the world is all rainbows and unicorns.

And really, could we ever really forget that life is hard and a lot of things in the world are chaotic? Probably not. I mean, have you ever watched the news?

But it can be easy to forget or just miss the small & simple joys.

Don’t be fooled by the words simple or small.

One of the greatest changes we can make in our lives is to give more attention, recognition, and gratitude for all the simple and small things.
